Independence Day: Honoring the Past, Strengthening Our Future

June 30, 2023 | By Shannon Meireis

As another Fourth of July approaches, we at Longshot Enterprises pause to reflect on the profound significance of Independence Day and its resonance with our core values.

Longshot Enterprises has always sought to honor our veterans and their families. The spirit of freedom, courage, and tenacity that led our country to independence is the same spirit that fuels our mission. But before we delve deeper, let’s briefly revisit the historical journey that led to our nation’s birth.

In the late 18th century, thirteen colonies on the east coast of North America decided to break free from British rule. They were weary of high taxes, political repression, and lack of representation in the British parliament. Our forefathers, inspired by Enlightenment principles, fought a grueling war from 1775 to 1783. The Declaration of Independence, signed on July 4, 1776, marked the formal assertion of their revolutionary goal. It proclaimed not only our nation’s sovereignty, but also a manifesto of human rights, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Just like our nation’s founders, we at Longshot Enterprises believe in resilience, courage, and indomitable spirit. As a Veteran Managed company, we embody the same spirit that fought for independence over two centuries ago into our everyday operations. Our firm’s success is a testament to the strength and determination that veterans bring to the table. We take immense pride in offering top-quality tarping systems and solutions, coupled with unrivaled customer service.

We honor veterans and their families daily. Their sacrifices have forged our society’s bedrock, granting us the freedom and security we often take for granted. We express our gratitude by creating a supportive workplace that empowers veterans. Their leadership, discipline, and resilience contribute directly to our success.

Independence Day is more than just fireworks and barbecues; it is a tribute to those who pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor for freedom. It is also a time to acknowledge the countless men and women in uniform who have since defended that freedom, both at home and abroad.

As we enjoy the tradition of fireworks on this day, it’s crucial to be mindful and considerate of our veterans. The noise and flashes can sometimes trigger distressing memories, leading to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms in some veterans. A considerate celebration, therefore, not only respects our neighbors but also upholds the spirit of empathy and understanding that strengthens our community ties.

As we celebrate the 247th anniversary of our independence, we do so with a nod to our past, a commitment to our present, and an unwavering hope for our future. Independence Day is a reminder that freedom is never free. It’s a product of bravery, resilience, and an unyielding spirit, all traits we hold dear at Longshot Enterprises.

This Fourth of July, let’s honor our past, celebrate our freedom, and strengthen our future. From all of us at Longshot Enterprises, we wish you a safe and thoughtful Independence Day. Let’s continue to hold high the torch of freedom, as a beacon for us and for generations to come.
