Honoring The Brave: Memorial Day Through the Lens of Longshot Enterprises

As the last Monday of May draws near, America gears up to honor the men and women who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Memorial Day, steeped in deep-rooted history and reverent tradition, offers a heartfelt reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and valor of the brave souls that have served our great nation. Today, we at Longshot Enterprises stand in quiet reflection, mirroring the solemn sentiments of this national holiday.

At Longshot Enterprises, Memorial Day holds a special place in our hearts. Founded by Doug and Cindy Long, this day is not just a marker on the calendar, but a personal testament of recognition and respect. Their son, a proud Navy veteran, now manages the family business, strengthening the bond between our company and the military community.

The battlefield may cease, but for many veterans, the war is never truly over. The transition from military to civilian life can often be a daunting journey, marked by unseen battles against post-traumatic stress, depression, and anxiety. Tragically, the grim reality is that veterans are significantly more likely to take their own lives compared to those who have not served.

As part of our commitment to the wellbeing of veterans, we urge anyone struggling with thoughts of suicide to reach out to the Veterans Crisis Line at 1-800-273-TALK (1-800-273-8255) or send a text message to 838255. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (1-800-273-8255) is also available 24/7, providing free and confidential support. You’re not alone; there are people who care about you and want to help.

Longshot Enterprises stands as a staunch supporter of organizations that strive tirelessly to assist veterans in their ongoing battles. Irreverent Warriors, a group focusing on prevention of veteran suicide through camaraderie and humor, is particularly close to our hearts. We encourage veterans to participate in the Silkies Hikes, (a 22 km hike that Irreverent Warriors organize), symbolizing the 22 veterans we lose each day to suicide.

Additionally, we lend our voice and resources to The Marine Corps League and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). These remarkable institutions tirelessly support veterans in their journey of healing and integration. They offer programs that aim at improving the lives of veterans and their families, and they deserve our utmost admiration and support.

On this Memorial Day, the Long family and Longshot Enterprises pause to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives serving our nation. Our hearts go out to their families and to all who have served, both past and present. This is a day of remembrance, a day of thanks, and most importantly, a day of unity.

In closing, we ask all Americans, from the heartland of Kansas to the corners of our country, to take a moment to honor the courage and sacrifice of our fallen heroes. Their bravery allows us to enjoy the freedoms we often take for granted, and their memory will forever be etched in the history of our great nation.

To all our veterans and active military, thank you for your service. And to those struggling, please reach out. You are not alone, and there are many who are ready and willing to lend a hand. Let’s stand together, in memory of the fallen, and in support of those still with us.

Remember, Honor, and Respect – this is what Memorial Day is about. And for us at Longshot Enterprises, it’s a personal commitment we carry with pride.
